*** 17/06/12 No More Postcard Sponsors Please!***
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported us through Postcard Sponsorship. We have really appreciated and felt very privileged to have the support from everyone who has requested a postcard – keep an eye on your postbox!
If anybody still wants to support our trip, rather than sponsor us we would love to see any further financial support put towards the fantastic work of our charity Practical Action. This is because we are finding that on our journey we are learning to put more and more trust in the people and the places we visit rather than the security of the money in our bank account. While the world takes care of us, we know that money given to Practical Action will give something special back to people in the world that really need it.
What is a Postcard Sponsor? Some friends and family have asked if they can help sponsor our trip. Of course! If anyone would like to sponsor us for a day on the road, they can do that here and in return for your generosity we will send you a postcard from the road. So please choose a country on the map below and keep an eye on your postbox…
How can we afford to cycle around the world? And how much is a day on the road? The Tandem Turners are planning to be completely self-supported. It is hard to budget exactly for a trip like this, particularly when we are not even sure how many months (or years?) we may be away. Since our wedding we have been saving our pennies, selling our toys and preparing for a frugal life on the road. We think it should be possible for us to survive on £20 a day for everything the trip throws at us. While this will barely buy a round of drinks here in Forest Hill, it will stretch a lot further elsewhere. Australia and Europe may cost a bit more – South-East Asia a bit less. To be honest it is just a round number that I plucked out of the air and told Kat confidently that we could ‘Live like kings’ on.

Hi Nanik, Thanks again for your warm Javan hospitality! Was lovely to visit your home and eat with you. How is your daughter getting on with the pink Pom-poms? I was wondering what to do with them, I am glad they found a good home.
All the Best,
Steve
